This is not necessary for an infertile woman to have periods, but some women suffer from infertility and still undergo normal periods every month. The menstrual period is a phase in every woman’s life from the time of her adolescence to the age of 45-50. It is a blood fluid that flows out from the vaginal opening along with the uterine lining and lasts for 3 to 7 days. Menstrual cycle days differ in every woman, but the normal length of the cycle is 25 to 35 days. Several women have a normal menstrual cycle but suffer from infertility. There can be several conditions due to which this might happen such as tubal factor, egg quality, uterus, or it can also happen due to male factor. Many Male infertility doctors in India treat men if they suffer from infertility.
There are numerous abnormal patterns of the menstrual cycle which are related to infertility.
- Polymenorrhea is a condition where periods occur in females before 21 days, every month.
- Oligomenorrhea is a condition in women who suffer from late periods that is the blood flow is after 35 days.
- Menorrhagia is a condition where a woman bleeds continuously for 7 days or more.
- Hypomenorrhoea is a condition where a woman suffers from almost low bleeding. It lasts for almost 2 to 4 days.
It also depends on the age of a woman, the egg reserve decreases in women as the age increases and due to this hormonal imbalance, the menstrual cycle gets shorter. The amount of flow of blood decides certain conditions of fertility.
Reason for Infertility in Women
Infertility occurs due to certain conditions in women but still can have normal periods.
- PCOS
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal imbalance which is seen in women. Almost 5% to 12% of women face this between the age of 15 to 45. In this, the ovaries develop several follicles in which the sacs are filled with harmless fluid. These follicles are unable to release mature eggs. In PCOS, a woman goes through an irregular period.
- Premature ovarian failure
It is a condition of a woman who suffers from Primary ovarian insufficiency which occurs when there is a premature decrease in the ovaries before forty years of her age. In this condition, the eggs are not released regularly and thus, it leads to infertility.
- Menopause
Menopause is a phase that comes into every woman’s life. In this phase, the woman stops having a menstrual cycle due to the lower hormonal level. It occurs almost from the age of 45 to 55. Sometimes it happens naturally and there are many cases in women who undergo various surgeries so that the ovaries can be removed and sometimes the uterus too or can be cancerous.
- Thyroid disorders
A woman suffering from hypothyroidism does not allow certain hormones to be produced. In this condition, women can have a cycle of almost 35 to 40 days. This too causes infertility in women. Proper treatment is required to control incorrect hypothyroidism.
- Genital tuberculosis
This is a condition in which the fallopian tubes are affected due to which women face infertility.
- Stress and eating disorders
This is a condition in which generally women have an increase in their weight which causes irregular periods and hence, causes infertility.
Conclusion
There are a lot of women who have periods despite infertility. Infertility can be managed by modifying lifestyle which will ultimately modify the menstrual cycle or else it will lead to infertility. There are several Female as well as Male fertility clinics in India which can cure these infertility problems.
