8 Myths About SEO You need to Know

SEO has changed over the years and many of the techniques or actions that were used have stopped working today due to updates.

Today, however, we hear a lot of myths that SEO practices don’t work anymore and can even be dangerous.

Let’s start with the SEO myths!

  1. The more keywords you use to rank higher, the better For SEO.

While this statement may have been true a few years back, it is not today. User experience has become more important than ever. Texts that repeat the same terms repeatedly do not create a pleasant user experience.

Keywords do not have to be repeated in pages’ content.  It is also important for the SERP. Do you know What Does SERP Stand For in SEO? It is important to provide information to the user who visits our page using coherent language.

  1. My home should have lots of content.

You have probably visited many web pages with too much content and left the site because you don’t know where to go. A company’s home page serves as the portal to its business. Must reflect the company’s history, activity, and values and where it is located (in the case of a local company), and what visitors should do or find.

An online store will have different content than a corporate website. Therefore, the content must be relevant to our activities. Don’t forget to let your visitors know who you are. Your home is where you can hook your customers.

  1. Domains.com is ranked higher than other domains.

Although we are used to hearing that domain.com ranks higher, the truth is the exact opposite. Domains will be better positioned because a local domain is more relevant to users who are searching from that country.

  1. Local SEO is not important anymore.

Many SEO experts recommend that you optimize your local business for local search if it is not a reality. This will allow you to not only be found but also help others who live nearby to you to buy from you.

This is especially useful for restaurants. If we visit a new city and don’t know where to go, we can search Google to find nearby restaurants and book a table. This is a great advantage for both the restaurant and other local businesses.

You can optimize your business by creating and verifying a page on Google My Business. This will enable you to get the most out of your search traffic.

  1. The most important element of a page is H1.

Although this statement is common, search engines have become more sophisticated and recognize that H1s are heading tags used to describe the page’s style. It doesn’t matter what heading you use H1, H2, or H3, it is important that the content is organized coherently and presents the most important concepts at both the beginning and top of the page.

When structuring your content, think about the readers. We believe that the most important thing for your readers is at the start of the content.

  1. Images don’t need to be optimized.

Search engines don’t know the content of images. Therefore, it is crucial to add alt text to every image as well as a filename that describes the image. This gives Google the ability to see the image’s content.

  1. It is irrelevant what user experience means.

The Google algorithm made the user experiences a key element in positioning web pages. When evaluating the user experience, you should consider the following: the page’s loading time, correct alignment of text, font size, scrolling behavior, bounce rate, and the speed at which the page loads.

These factors enable Google to determine if a page’s experience is pleasant and adapts to the user’s expectations. Don’t forget about giving it the importance that it deserves!

  1. Meta keywords are extremely important.

This is false. Google is not taking into consideration meta keywords. Search engines have changed and no longer need to look at meta keywords to understand what a page is about. Focus your efforts on the positioning.
